About Mary Jane Harlan
I studied for a master’s in Theatre before I became aware of my need to eat and live indoors which led me to Nursing.
I have been active in theatre here in East Tennessee and have had roles in Musicals at the Bijou, Clarence Brown, Oak Ridge Playhouse and Cumberland County Playhouse to name a few.
In addition to my many chorus roles I have played Miss Hannigan in Annie,Mrs Cratchet in Scrooge, Grandma Tzeitel in Fiddler On The Roof,Tessie Tura in Gypsy and I was a woman playing a man playing a woman in La Cage Aux Folles.
I have also been a costume designer for multiple show over the years including A New York credit with Magic Circle Opera. For Three years I sang on the Knoxville Riverboat in Musical Mystery Dinner Theatre and in one show I was the murderer.
I also enjoy being an audience member at concerts, plays etc
My musical tastes are diverse and include bluegrass, hip hop, rock and opera
I enjoy dance but my dance career was stunted by the fact that I broke my foot in a dance class and had to go to UT hospital in a leotard -which would have been cute except I was 32.
